Under the mentorship of Velocity and Keith Rose, Thabo secured himself a full scholarship to study at film school in Portland, Oregon, USA. In an article, David Lyman the founder wrote “After reading Thabo’s letter I realised that if anyone can write with as much conviction, he will succeed in anything. I just had to give him a full scholarship which was the first in the history of our school.” Prior to his scholarship Thabo was a Dramatic arts graduate so he has the talent to draw strong performances out of actors.
Thabo is the most awarded black commercials director in SA today with a Clio finalist for Harley Davidson/Arrive Alive and the same spot been featured in the D&AD Automotive section. Thabo’s commercial for the IEC with TBWA Hunt Lascaris was awarded the grand total of eight Loerie awards including a gold for music.
The last year has been filled with great work across the board working with brands such as MTN, Lotto, Guinness and Standard Bank. With his winning attitude towards the creative, always collaborating with agency and drawing inspiration from all his professional peers he has proven to be a great asset to the Commercials industry.
